THE STUDENT PAIN POINT

They came to play. Help them arrive prepared.

Most beginner Mahjong lessons are short — often just a couple of hours.

Before students can really begin, teachers often need to introduce the origins, the tiles, the culture, and the basic flow of the game.

That context matters. But when students are excited to play, every minute at the table counts.

“I loved hearing the history and learning what the tiles meant — it was interesting, and it felt important to know.
But we only had so much time together, and we were all dying to start playing. I remember thinking,
‘I wish we could learn all of this before class and come in ready to actually learn how to play."

— The student insight behind Start With Mahjong

Start With Mahjong gives your students a beautiful introduction before class begins — so they arrive welcomed, oriented, and ready to learn.

“Seeing my name and teaching information in Mahjong Origins made it feel like something that really belonged with my classes. I love the idea of my students getting that beautiful pre-class introduction before we meet — learning the history, what the tiles mean, the origins of the game, and how Mahjong flows. Such a huge first-lesson time saver for me — and more time to actually teach and play.”

A Note from the Creator

Start With Mahjong began with an idea from my younger sister. After a beginner lesson with her group of working moms, she told me they had spent the first 30 minutes of their two hours together learning the game’s history. Everyone was eager to learn at the table and start playing. We imagined giving students that context in advance, through a beautiful, personalized film. That idea became Start With Mahjong: a warm welcome from you, a thoughtful introduction for your students, and more time together for teaching and play.
